Hello, Hello!

I am a traveler by nature, and it seems that I have been going a lot lately. I thought it would be fun to start a blog about my wanderings, to let people know that you can have fun no matter where you are. I go go go almost every weekend, but on those I don't I will reach into my past to tell stories about where I've been.

For this first adventure, I will talk about my trip to Dallas this past weekend. I am a geek. So I went to Dallas to be a geek at Dallas Comic Con. And I dragged a friend of mine along, a newbie to it all. As you will soon learn, this trip went like most of them do - not the smoothest.

We headed out Friday, driving from our current home of Nowhere. 6 hours from Dallas. Or it should have been. Now, I have driven the road between Nowhere and Dallas many, many times. In fact, I went to this same con 3 months ago (a whole 'nother adventure, I'll tell you about it someday). An hour and a half in, the first hiccup.

I was talking to my friend, and all I looked for when turning onto the next ramp was the capital "A" for Abilene...not noticing at all that we actually turned north towards Amarillo...kind of the opposite direction. We got halfway there before we realized what we'd done. Luckily, neither of us is a stickler for these things, and so we laughed and turned around to actually head to our destination.

Four hours in both of our phones pinged to tell us that the actor we were going to see in Dallas had cancelled at the very last minute. And here we were presented with a dilemma...to turn around or continue on and have a different adventure. I've never been one to turn around and go home when I have a day off so....

We went to the convention, met some celebrities, and in-between we toured Dallas thanks to a friend. An outdoor mall, and the Grapevine Mall, which was huge and vastly impressive, especially to two gals from Nowhere. We also sampled this amazing food called TGI Friday and also Ruby Tuesday. Ah, so this is how you big-city people do things. Throw in a Starbucks, and I will continue to be adventurous.

This weekend was fun, but not quite a huge adventure. Stay tuned for next weekend....heading to Arizona for the first time ever!
